Warm, Rich & Pink Bedroom!

In all my years of living on my own as an adult, I've haven't given my bedroom priority when it comes to design . It's always been last on the list because 'only we go in there'. While I do believe that common areas are of higher priority, we do live in our bedroom and it deserves attention.

Our bedroom is massive! We have an 18' rug (it's by Stark Carpet Antelope) in it to give you perspective. This room had real gold grasscloth on the back wall when we purchased the home, which has grown on me and became the starting place for the design. Unfortunately, it also came with lots of can lights, awkward built-ins and speakers in the walls. (One day we will remove the eyesores but until then we are doing our best to work with it)

My goal with our bedroom was to create a warm space with rich colors.

The walls were a bright, cold, flat white which did not harmonize with the rich, gold grasscloth. In my efforts to remove each and every white wall in our home, one room at a time, I decided to paint them color Benjamin Moore Soft Pink at 50%.

Tip: I almost always reduce my paint colors by 50%.

Note: Ryan is always away on work travel when I do home projects and his rule is 'as long as it doesn't involve him and under a certain dollar amount he doesn't care what I do'

I added a gallery wall of photos that represent milestones and us as a couple throughout our 19 years. I used these FRAMES.

For the awkward built-ins I drenched them in paint and added art and baskets to try and fill the spaces.

I call this 'lipstick on a pig' but that's real life sometimes. Our home isn't a magazine but a constantly evolving place we make our memories.

I chose deep green bedside dressers to balance all the brown wood tones in the room. These are economical, tall enough for our bed and provide great storage.

For our bedding, I wanted soft colors. I hunted for a very long time and by luck found chartreuse shams and this warm pink duvet cover.

These drapes are the star! They are sentimental to me as I found the fabric over 10 years ago with my dear friend and her mother while out of town. Her mother made these drapes for me which hung in the dining room of our first home. They're a silk embroidered pattern with birds & flowers in jewel tones.

I'm overjoyed to see them again every day.

There is so much power in paint and it's something you can do yourself.

I encourage you to add color to your walls room by room, creating spaces that reflect who you are!

Dress Your Home Beautifully
