A few weeks ago I was a bit down with the heaviness of my responsibilites. Naturally, I called my Mama as she is a source of wisdom and humor for me. She said, "Honey, just make you a pot of grits". So I did!

She was right! Sometimes we just need to stop, eat something comforting and in the quiet stillness comes the renewal.

Fun Fact: I'm extremely disinterested in food and primarily eat to nourish my body but every now and then I enjoy it! She knows this :)

I grew up on grits. Mama would make a large pot and we would scoop them up in our bowls and eat them gladly. My Mama likes hot sauce in hers with a little butter, salt & Pepper. For me, I like just a tiny bit of salt and ample black pepper. If you're really feeling like a treat, white cheddar cheese is delicious!

Grits aren't fancy, they're not even nutritious but they are warm, quick and bring back joyful memories of my childhood.

Maybe it's a cup of tea for you or a grilled cheese. Maybe you have the talent of making homemade bread! whatever is warm and comforting to you, I encourage you to take a few moments, sit, eat and pray. Talk to God. He knows your every thought, feeling and He even understands.

He knows all the sides of every story and will hold your hand helping you every step of the way.

A small bowl of grits in the quiet stillness was what I needed to rekindle my passion to persevere.
