A great way to add versatility to your wardrobe and personal style is to take a classic garment and layer with color, pattern, texture & shine!
I believe these are all key elements for an interesting and elevated look.

This belt adds shape, texture, color and shine! there's even pattern in the turquoise stone. Belts are truly transformative adding so much detail and style in just one accessory. I'm Loving This Stud Belt!

A knit in the form a of a sweater or cardigan adds warmth, texture, shine in the buttons and often a print like this stripe. Consider a chic drape over the shoulders and for balanced proportions a hem length that hits right at the natural waist to create an elongated silhouette.

a sweater vest is one of my favorite layering pieces as it allows for easy movement of my arms, just enough warmth and opportunity for adding color, texture and pattern. Again, it's flattering to keep the length no longer than the natural waist.
I encourage you to Get creative with color pairings!

Scarves are elegant and the silk presents a luster that's eye catching. They too add color, texture and pattern. I find a drape over the shoulders lovely but around the neck is also a great options.
Nearly all my scarves are vintage but this is a great $10 option!

Denim goes with everything! It adds a heavierier weighted texture to the solid dress and a contrasting casual element. Try a vest, denim jacket or shirt to layer.

Animal print is a neutral #facts. This moto jacket adds extra shine in the hardware, an edgy contrast to the feminine dress and of course warmth.
I also like mixing deeper neutrals with pastels in the winter.
